our bodies will be our demand

This piece was written as a way to document my experiences in and at Occupy Wall Street, from September 17th, 2011 to exactly one year later. I used various field recordings that I made myself, as well as more those of more infamous moments elsewhere in New York, as well as those in Oakland and in Athens, Greece, for example. The samples were translated with the help of a computer program called Audioguide, but the majority with my own ear and musical intuition. Various repeating rhythmic figures can be heard throughout: they are transcriptions of chants commonly heard at Occupy protests. I have included the original text where appropriate. This is an orchestra version of the original work, which was written for the Ensemble Intercontemporain in 2012.
